MEMEBERSHIP RECRUITMENT RULES FOR 2008

  1. All CPH members must adhere to the Unanimous Agreements, Code of Ethics, and CPH Constitution and Bylaws.
    1. Formal Membership Recruitment shall be defined as the period starting with the First Recruitment Round and ending on Bid Day at the Panhellenic Bid Day Reception.
    2. Potential new member shall be defined as any freshman women, first semester transfer woman, and any woman registered for Formal Membership Recruitment.
    3. In accordance with the Membership Recruitment Rules of the Unanimous Agreements, a CPH member shall be defined as any new members, sisters, or alumnae of any chapter.
  2. From August 1 through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment, Recruitment Counselors as well as Panhellenic President, Vice President Recruitment, and Judicial Chair should not be publicly affiliated with their chapter (i.e. no identifying insignia, including chapter membership recruitment functions).
  3. No CPH member, except Resident Advisors, Recruitment Counselors, Panhellenic Vice President Recruitment, Panhellenic President, and Community Advisors may visit a potential new member in her place of residence from August 1 through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment.
    1. No incoming freshman women or potential new member shall be entertained or present in chapter houses or chapter rooms (with the exception of any recruitment rounds held at the houses and Panhellenic house tours) from August 1 through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment.
    2. No incoming freshman women or potential new member shall be entertained or present in apartment or resident hall rooms of a CPH member from August 1 through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment.
    1. Meeting with freshmen women related to campus organizations, where only members of that organization are present, are allowed in a residence of a sorority CPH member, barring chapter houses, if Panhellenic is notified in writing one week in advance. These meetings and other extenuating circumstances are subject to approval by the Panhellenic President or VP Recruitment. These exceptions do not apply during Formal Membership Recruitment and do not include study groups.
    2. Approval for potential new members who are family members of initiated sisters to visit said family members and vise versa need only be approved once by Panhellenic, and applies from the date approval is granted until the start of Formal Membership Recruitment. Approval is not needed for academic related visits.
  4. No alcohol or drugs shall be provided directly or indirectly by, nor served by a sister in the presence of any potential new member.
    1. No CPH member will escort or facilitate the entrance of a freshman woman or potential new member to any alcoholic event from August 1 through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment.
    2. No CPH member will escort a freshman woman or potential new member to any activity (i.e. movie, concert, etc.) on or off campus from August 1 to the start of Formal Membership Recruitment without the notification of the Panhellenic President or VP Recruitment at least one week in advance.
    3. No CPH member will escort a freshman woman or potential new member to any activity (i.e. movie, concert, etc.) on or off campus during Formal Membership Recruitment.
    1. No CPH member may buy anything for a potential new member (meal, soft drink, etc.)
    2. No potential new member may buy anything for a CPH member.
  5. No favors or gifts may be given or promised to women by the fraternity and/or by individual members (i.e. books should not be loaned, or bids should not be promised) from August 1 to the end of Formal Membership Recruitment with the exception of an item needed for an emergency (i.e. Advil or pencil for a test).
    1. No affiliated CPH member may initiate contact with a potential new member via facebook from the start through the end of Formal Membership Recruitment regardless of the CPH member’s relationship with the potential new member (i.e. sports teams, clubs, organizations) barring family members.
    2. A CPH member must inform a potential new member of Membership Recruitment rule 11a if the potential new member initiates contact with the CPH member.
