Every junior takes Mathematical Modeling. It isn't a typical high school math class, like Calculus or Trigonometry. In the class we use Mathematica, a hellish but powerful software program. Our teacher is Mr. Barys. He is one of my favorite teachers. He is extremely funny and hilarious, but also very brilliant and very helpful. It is one of my favorite classes, and one I looked forward to everyday. We get POWs, which are Problem of the Week, for which we solve and do a write-up. We also do chapter packets, which are hard but fun. I love Math!

• POW 1 This is the first POW we did. It dealt with broken eggs, multiples of numbers, and formulas. I like solving POWs, I just can't prove anything.

• POW 3 Here is a POW we did that dealt with greedy children and gum balls. It wasn't hard. I got a 14/15. The hard part was proving the formulas I generated, hence the point off. I'm still proud of it.

• Peg Jumping for Fun and Profit This assignment made me stay up until 5 am. However, when we discussed it in class the next day, I realized that I hit all the points Mr. Barys wanted us to, so I am happy. It's about the famous peg jumping game, and the proofs behind it.

• Proof by Induction 7 We did a unit on proof by induction. This example is one proof I did. I got to stand up and explain it to the class.

• POF This is the big problem of the fortnight. It had to do with painted faces on tetrahedra, octahedra, and inverted tetrahedra. It took a while.
