Nathan Bricault - Humanities

The humanities course at Mass Academy is a combination of the history, literature, and writing courses offered at most conventional schools. It covers those historical and societal developments that have impacted literature, philosphy, art, and other aspects of culture. The textbook we use is 'Landmarks in Humanities' by Gloria K. Fiero. We have various reading and writing assignments, and a journal entry due every Tuesday.

Due to the historic focus of this class, many of our assignments focus on the significance of literary works in relation to the period culture, such as this essay on several works of Medieval Literature. Another historical assignment with greater focus on technology as part of a class posterboard centered on Elizabethan weapons.

Following the course of history, we completed a short section on Shakespeare. A brief research outline of Timon the Misanthrope can be found here. We also read Richard III, and wrote an essay. More recently, we read a sampling of the satirical works of Joseph Addison, and wrote an analytical essay.
