Computer Science is an awesome class! The work is tons of fun especially learning about websites and computer hardware
Scheme is the program we use in CS, we use code to execute functions on varying imputs,
these are a few labs that we did this and this
Mid-way through the year students wrote a short 1-2 paragraph reflection of their progress throughout the year. My reflection described my enjoyment of learning new concepts as well as their applications. I really enjoyed the interactive labs that we designed after I wrote this reflection.
For our STREAM B groups, we had to produce professional looking Business cards, together Merrielle and I were able to make a Card that I believe came out very nicely.
The most recent lab which was different for every student in the school (other than those who worked in groups) was the physics-related final lab. For my lab I simulated the motion of a ripple tank from the side. If I were to expand this concept I would integrade 2-D motion of each row as well as add waves from each end that interfered. Here is the lab itself.
A lab that at first had seemed extremly simple turned out to be a concept that would take me much longer than expected to grasp. Structures. Yep, they turned out to be my bane for a solid month-long period, especially reoccuring again when we began calling structures with code like (ball-x-position (world-ball aworld)).
Despite having challenges while coding scheme, there has yet to be a lab that has left me perplexed. However, a lab that Chris and I were unable to make work as planned was the Fractal Lab(waiting for file), which, despite our early aspirations, to be much more complicated that anticipated. I believe that if we had thought about our strategy before jumping right in we may have had success.
