02.18.05 Meeting Minutes

The biggest news of this week were the results of the annual Masque
Elections. Your new Masque Officers are:

President - Kelly Driscoll
VP Master Carpenter - Jamo Hanlan
VP Master Electrician - Dave Stechmann
VP Props - Cate Carrigan
VP Publicity - Angelo Chandler
Treasurer - John Remby
Secretary - Jen Gilbert
Masquot - Dan Gilbreath
Webmaster - Dylan Fitzgerald

Congratulations to everyone who won, and thank you to everyone who was
dedicated enough to Masque to run. See the new officers in power this
Friday in the Green Room in Alden Hall at 5pm.

Catch Me If You Can -
The show went wonderfully. Thanks again to all who auditioned,
produced, acted, and to all who came to see and support the
production. Thank you.

New Voices 23 -
New Voices is looking especially for a Sound Engineer, House Manager,
Running Crew Chief, and Sustenance Manager at this time. For these or
any other production positions, contact Shauna or Haz at
shaunana@gmail.com or sharrow@wpi.edu for more information.
We also need 15 directors! The Meet and Greet came and went on
Saturday afternoon, but decisions are not finalized until this Friday
the 25th. Get an application from the New Voices 23 website at
http://www.wpi.edu/~nv23. Also, we're beginning to take applications
for Festival Stage Managers.
Auditions will be March 15th through 17th, from 6-9pm, and an audition
workshop will precede each audition night, run by Vicky and Shauna
from 5-6pm.
In addition, if anyone would like to contact Ben Sandofsky about
directing either of his plays in New Voices, his SN Name is
"tentac1e". That's tentacle, but with a "1" (one) instead of an "l".

Alden Little Theatre -
    Susan has a key!

Alpha Psi Omega -
Spring nominations are open! They will close Friday. You *must*
submit a nomination form. Emails with just a name will no longer be
accepted, but you can submit the nomination form details through
email. To submit a nomination anonymously, leave your name blank on
the paper or be sure to write in your email that the nomination is
anonymous. Email all questions and electronic nominations to
alphapsi@wpi.edu, where Vice President AJ Nowack will take care of
everything.

SCP -
Kilroy - We are having a show this Friday in Fuller Auditorium along
with Empty Set. Empty Set goes on at 7pm, and Kilroy goes on at 8.
It is completely free!
Empty Set - What he said, but also Empty Set has just accepted two new
members, who you may see in the upcoming show. They are: Jamo Hanlan,
and Eric Mill. Congratulations!
Guerilla Improv - We don't have an end of the term show planned, but
we are active and will be taking our third trip to Boston this
upcoming weekend to perform in the first annual Beanpot Tourney at
ImprovBoston. Details at
http://www.improvboston.com/php/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=2826&page_id=107.

Susan -
This week's words of wisdom supplied to Susan by Jamo Hanlan.
"I am a skilled professional actor. Whether or not I have any talent
is besides the point."
              -- Michael Caine

Trivia -
The winner of this week's trivia was Ty Bailey, who took home a golden
yo-yo. The very yo-yo used by Atlas to pass the time while holding up
the earth. It's a great legacy, Ty. Don't disgrace it.

Others -
   Sarah Pavis - It's her 21st birthday!!
Chris Dupree - Acapellafest is going down March 19th, both SHM and I8
will be performing, and Chris herself will have 3 solos. Doors open at
7pm, tickets are $10 for the public, and either $5 or $7 for students.

02.04.05 Meeting Minutes

Nominations for Masque officers for next year are now OPEN. Send them my
way at masque@wpi.edu and they will be counted. Elections will take place
in 2 weeks.

Catch Me If You Can goes up this weekend! February 10th through 12th, in
Alden Hall.

MW Rep -
The Food Chain had its show this past weekend in Riley Hall, and it was
pretty sweet. The night I was there saw a packed crowd and a great
response. Awesome work, guys.

NV23 -
We are looking for production positions as always, in particular a
lighting designer. Haz spoke for NV23 this week, as she has been named
Assistant Producer and liasion to Shauna, so you can expect to be
hearing from her for announcements at Masque meetings from now on. You
can contact her and/or Shauna about production positions at
sharrow@wpi.edu and shauana@gmail.com, respectively.

Little Theatre -
There was a technical meeting this last week, all sorts of electricity
and hi-vacs and whatnot. There'll be another one on Tuesday. Asbestos
removal will be starting over Spring Break, so try to steer clear of
Riley Hall for that time period. Also! In the 24th of February, Susan
will be commandeering the lives of Paul Messier and Mary Servatius and
giving a major presentation about the Little Theatre and the Theatre
program here to the WPI Trustees. In St. Petersburg, Florida. Stay
tuned for more!

Alpha Psi Omega -
There was a big important meeting following the Masque meeting.
Nominations will be opening in 2 weeks for inductees for D Term.

SCP -
GI - There was a show Friday night at 8pm in Kinicutt, and that went
off without a hitch. Now, we have a show coming up this Thursday, at
an undisclosed location and time. Part of the fun is the detective
work involved in finding us! Your roommate has already found the
location and is fast at work on the time, so you'd better hurry up and
beat them!
Kilroy - Our show is February 25th, in Fuller auditorium, featuring
multitudes of talented people. Come check it out.
Empty Set - They will be performing a show this term on either February
25th with Kilroy, or the day after on their own. More news on this in
the days ahead. Empty Set is also holding auditions this term. There
will be an open rehearsal on February 15th, and auditions on February
17th, at 8pm both days. Details on location to come.

Susan -
"We live in oppressive times. We have, as a nation, become our own
thought police; but instead of calling the process by which we limit
our expression of dissent and wonder "censorship", we call it "concern
for commercial viability."
              -- David Mamet

Trivia -
The correct answer to this week's trivia was that Mark Blitzstein
wrote the original musical "Cradle Will Rock", Orson Welles directed
it, and it was dedicated to Bertolt Brecht. Haz Harrower was first to
answer, and she received a lovely spirograph device with which to
sketch patterns and circles ad infinitum.

AJ - Was in Vermont! Instead, Jakeina told us a parable about a flea, and
we loved him so hard we thought our little hearts might burst.

Others -
Chris Dupree - An a capella concert featuring I8 and the Audiophiles
occurred in the Odeum at 8pm this weekend.

That's all! Come again this Friday! And don't forget to nominate people
you think would be good officers next year. This is important.

Yours,
Eric Mill

-- Stoppard on the definition of Theatre

AJ -
Fun story: Laundry like 2 days ago at Jim Dandy's, forgot it was there.
Freaking out. Leaving tonight for AGD retreat, can't leave it there
or some creepy young guy will steal them. Ran there and freaking out,
get all the stuff, run by her apartment, she can't put anything in
there, across the street and something falls, it was clanking, it was
her cell phone, standing in one lane, watching other lane, 4 cars go
right over the phone. 3 girls stopped and saw, "OH MY GOD!" cars pass
and more cars coming, she runs out in front of them, collects pieces of
phone, throws in pocket, running, thought was already late, has her
sheets, and made it on time to Masque meeting. APPLAUSE.

Others -
Chris - Has a ceiling now! Previously, it fell down, but not on her.
However, a metal bar sliced her ear when it did. Yikes.
Dean - The Attention Deficit Film Festival is having their best of show,
of all short films they showed in the last year. Dean's movie Legwork is
one of these! It'll be playing on Feb. 15th at the Common Cafe in

while watching. Fun fact: The director of his movie is now directing a
movie with half the cast of American Pie. :o
Ciaraldi - Thank you to all who made Captions a success. Namely, Michael
Ciaraldi.
