04.10.2004 Meeting Minutes

It was a relaxed sunlit Friday afternoon in the green room today, perfect for a meeting of tense overworked Masquaholics to take a few minutes to recover from production week.

New Voices 22 -
The set is going extremely well, aside from a few snafus. Check it out. Techs for all shows will
AJ: "BOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBOBO!"
be going down on Saturday and Monday. Oh, and the show itself is next week!

MWREP -
The 19th through the 21st of April, the Monday through Wednesday following New Voices, from 7 to 9 pm each night, will be auditions for MW Rep's A term show, Ten Little Indians. Bring a prepared audition monologue, and be prepared to read from the script too, in front of everyone.

Alpha Psi Omega -
The new induction class was announced today. There are 4 new members of Alpha Psi Omega, and we will see them inducted on Friday night immediately following New Voices 22. The inductees are:
Sarah Pavis
Justin Zipkin
Jamie Stern-Gottfried
Amanda Jean Nowack
There was a meeting for Alpha Psi Omega members and inductees after the meeting.

SCP -
Empty Set, GI, and Kilroy are all performing at the UMass Comedy Jam Saturday April 10th, it would be a shame to miss them, and to miss all the UMass troupes who came and entertained us last term, and then some.

Susan -
"Do what you can with what you have, where you are."
-- Theodore Roosevelt

Trivia -
The answer to the trivia was that Joe Lo Truglio, David Wain, and Michael Showalter wrote Sex AKA Weiners and Boobs, Wet Hot American Summer, and 2 of them joined up with Michael Ian Black to form Stella, an acclaimed NYC nightclub group. AJ was first with the answer, and received a package of Rocket Balloons, guaranteed to maim friends and family alike! Jim Nichols was close behind, and since he didn't have the benefit of being in Kilroy and having an advantage, he got a bonus prize, a pretty diary to record his most secret of thoughts and dreams, complete with lock and key. Share with us your heart someday, Jim.

AJ -
AJ told us about a strange dream she had the other night.

Others -
Hilary - This was her final Masque meeting as president. Her cold, unfeeling, and matronlike leadership will be missed by every one of us. And remember, no masque meeting next week, go see the matinee with It's Not Identity Theft If You Pay The Bills On Time. Additionally, Hilary is still totally running the Boston Marathon this Monday, and is trying to raise money for the Dana Farber Institute, and supporting two of her friends who are currently on chemo, so help out if you can.
Jamie - Chad Pytel is getting married next weekend, New Voices weekend. We all wish the best to Chad.

AJ -
OK, fine, I'll tell you. It was the end of New Voices, and AJ was so happy. Then the entire crowd decided to vote on the most awesome show, and it turned out to be A Viking Walks By. AJ came up the stairs and saw Cecilia sitting with Mary (this is where I knew it must have been a dream), and told them that they are the most talented and awesome sisters ever! They told AJ that she was way talented, to which AJ could only reply "Yeah, but my sister isn't."
Also, if you know any freshmen, AJ is trying to start a new program, called Save Spaces for Susan's Sanity. A freshmen would stand in a parking lot at 7 am every morning to save a parking spot for Susan. It's a good cause, guys, help her out.

See you next week,
Secret. Mill

04.02.2004 Meeting Minutes

We had an awesome Masque meeting this Friday, in which Hilary and I asserted our dominance over the chattel by our y-axis position in Green-Room coordinates.

New Voices 22 -
The Hall was gotten as of this morning, and construction has been started. Yea, I have walked upon it, and it was good. For directors, Cubemaps and Final Cue Lists were due on Friday, so if you still haven't gotten them in...do it!

MWREP -
The A Term show has been chosen, and it will be Ten Little Indians, by Agatha Christie. Tara Ellsworth will be directing, and Jeremy Hammond will be producing. The auditions will take place sometime after New Voices. Email Jeremy if you are interested in a production position.

SCP -
Guerilla Improv had an alumni show on Friday night, with the likes of Chad Pytel, Calvin Swaim, Matt Tucker, and the gorilla, to name a few celebrities who made an appearance. It's too bad you missed it, Cheryl told me she was sorry she didn't see you there.
Empty Set, Kilroy, and Guerilla Improv are ALL performing at the UMass Comedy Jam this April 10th, a lovely tech Saturday. The UMass Jam last year was stellar, with Kilroy even getting booed by a crowd of hundreds for being offensive, and if it happens again that alone is worth the trek to Amherst.
Kilroy will be defending their title at the Alma Mater contest this Thursday. Hey, maybe Masque can do an Alma Mater performance too! Want to? ...Talk to Spave!

Alpha Psi Omega -
The copious list of 25 nominees was announced at the meeting, with the voting meeting taking place after it. Nominees are currently being approached with news of their fate, and the inductees will be announced this coming Friday.

Susan -
"It would be a simple enough thing to do, if only simplicity were not the most difficult of all things."
-- Carl Jung

AJ -
AJ was feeling more stream of consciousness today, and left with us a thought ("Children's books make me cry."), and a rendition of the Alma Mater song that united the entire room in a frenzy of half-remembered lyrics.

Trivia -
Jon Abad took home a kaleidoscope from the meeting for identifying the company who created the Magic 8 Ball in 1946, the Alabe Crafts Company. I'm sure Jon Abad is kaleiding the night away as we speak.

Others -
WE ARE MISSING CUBES. If you have seen any greyish or blackish 18"x18" cubes lying around, please let us know. They are very loved and we would hate to see anything happen to them. Please...
We need to get ready for Senior Gifts, so send Paul some embarassing stories of seniors and find some freshmen who can give them away. We know these stories exist, now let's exploit them to harm our friends!

03.26.2004 Meeting Minutes

So Friday at the Masque meeting Susan had a special guest Masque veteran, who was so happy to be here he had been on the verge of tears all day. He was David Fraioli, Class of 1987, EEB with High Distinction and alumni of AYO and Masque. He was a participant in NV 4, 5, and 6, and a traveller to our first trip to the Edinburgh Festival, and is now an actor based in New York City. He seemed excited to see us all being excited about him being excited at us. I know I'm excited too!

Hilary -
The presidential candidates are visiting campus soon, and there will be meetings open so you can meet them. They'll be determining our school's future, so tell them to support Masque and tell them why! How can they reject this collectively cute face??

New Voices -
New Voices 22 has been cast! And there are 2 weeks left until Tech Friday! Woo...hoo... ...
Well, we did have the nicest bloodbath ever. Quoth AJ "It was more like a spongebath."

MWREP -
The voting meeting for the A Term show(s) is...WAS...Sunday at 3, in Hagglund. Hope they've voted for a kickin show.

Guerilla Improv -
They performed as an opener to AcapellaFest this past weekend, and it was a big bag of awesome. An even BIGGER bag can be found Monday (today!) at 8 pm in the Odeum when you see Jake Given, Sarah Pavis, Dan Gilbreath, and ME! Eric Mill debate the Cambridge Union, one of the most prestigious debate groups in the world (seriously, presidents have gone there), about whether England should or should not be the 51st state of America. They also have a Friday show! Featuring GI Alumni! That's a whole lot of GI this week.

Kilroy -
We've selected our sketches and we've cast our show! Look it for circa April 30th in Fuller Auditorium.

AYO -
They had a meeting after the Masque meeting. Remember, AYO voting meeting is next week.

Susan -
"The structure of a play is always the story of how the birds come home to roost."
-- Arthur Miller

Masquot -
AJ told us a delightful story about how she sat on the top floor of the Campus Center doing her homework, and this guy at WPI for a conference was sitting across from her talking on his cell phone and intermittently asking her questions and making insulting jokes to her and generally being creepy. The moral of the story is make personal comments to AJ without even knowing her if you want to get PUNCHED IN THE FACE.

Trivia -
No one really answered my trivia, but Jeremy Hammond gave me tons of cool info so he got a sheep-like thing. It's like a Chia pet, except it's a sheep made of paper and it produces real wool, or so the box claims. Happy weaving Jeremy!

Others -
Acapellafest happened this Sunday at 7:30, and it was pretty sweet. Interstate 8, SHM, and other awesome groups regaled us with song. Walid Khoury and Tom Rosborough also did a stellar job of MCing the fest as the Alums..from the future!
Tara has a job!
Ben and Jake's movie that he did for his MQP will hopefully be debuting at Quadfest, watch for it.

Happy Masque Members

03.19.2004 Meeting Minutes

The room was packed with people for callbacks, what an atmosphere. We had maps made for everyone which were distributed at the end of the meeting. It was exciting.

MWREP is having their voting meeting on Sunday the 28th, in the Hagglund room, from 3-6pm. If you want to bring a show, check their website and let them know what you are bringing.

Empty Set announced they were having a show Tuesday at ImprovBoston, however I have since learned it has been canceled. However, if you go Tuesday night to ImprovBoston, you will see an empty set....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Guerilla Improv has a new director by the name of Adam Ribaudo, and a new producer by the name of Sarah Pavis. They have a show in 2 weeks, a games-oriented show, and it is the GI Alumni Reunion show, so if you see any GI alumni let them know they are welcome to go perform.

Kilroy announced the new title of their D Term show: If Kilroy Were a Person, We'd Have No Friends

Alpha Psi Omega nominations are still open, and anyone can nominate anyone else. You should nominate people who have made outstanding contributions to theater at WPI, which can conceivably even be people unaffiliated with Masque. Send your letter of nomination (not just a name, write a description of why you nominated them) to alphapsi@wpi.edu. You can make it an anonymous nomination by not putting your name at the bottom, only the President of Alpha Psi will know the nominators. Nominations close next Friday at noon, so hurry up! You can see a list of the current members at http://users.wpi.edu/~alphapsi/members.html .

Susan -
"Will you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you."
-- Richard Sheridan

Trivia - Diane Jordan got the answer first and got the first prize of a wooden handled full length jump rope! For being the first to send me a reply with just the right answer and not a list of guesses, Anthony Scanzani got the bonus prize, a CHINESE jump rope! Apparently you use your legs or something. But it is Made in China, so it is authentic.
