Their show is next weekend; Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Riley Commons. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 general admission. The two one acts plays are "It's Tough to be Somebody" and "The Last Touchy Feely Drama on the American Stage."
The Rivals
Their show is going up February 12-14th. If you would like to usher contact Chris Dupree (cdupree@wpi.edu). Everything is going well so far.
New Voices 22
A production manager is still needed. Also there are design positions to be filled. Email Paul (pmessier@wpi.edu) if you're interested.
The submission deadline for plays and scenic designs for New Voices 22 is this Friday, January 30th 2004 at 5 pm. Drop them off in SL 20 in a plain envelope in a box. It's not to the level of secrecy of the witness relocation program, but it's close. You can also drop them in Penny Rock's office in SL 16. This Friday from 4 pm on, Ian Broderick will be at the Humanities and Arts table to collect submissions. If you're dropping off submissions earlier in the afternoon, drop them off to Susan, Penny, Margaret or Jill.
If you are going to be doing your sufficiency in a tech related aspect for New Voices contact Paul (pmessier@wpi.edu) to see what's available. Then talk to either Susan or Dean.
Student Comedy Productions
Guerilla Improv will be doing a multitude of shows in the near future. Yay! This Friday at 7:30 GI will be performing before KRSOne in Alden. GI will also be doing shows every Friday in February (except the Friday of The Rivals). Then for the month of March GI will be doing shows every Wednesday at ImprovBoston.
The new sketch comedy group has a name. It is *drum roll* Empty Set. Their first show will be February 20th.
Kilroy had their voting meeting to decide what sketches are going to be in their show. It is going to be an awesome show and will premiere at the comedy festival. The festival is now titled "Pac Man Jesus Fish Comedy Festival."
Nominations
All positions will be filled at the start of this D term except for president which will be done at the time of New Voices. Nominations will be open for two weeks and then voted on. Send all nominations into masque@wpi.edu. If you are nominated for a position then I will send out an email to you asking if you accept or decline, you must respond as to whether you accept or decline each position. The positions are (in no particular order) President, Vice President Master Carpenter, VP Master Electrician, VP Props, VP Publicity, Secretary, Treasurer, Masquot and Webmaster.
You can nominate as many people as you like for as many positions as you like, including yourself.
Susan
"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost."
~Thomas Jefferson
Alpha Psi
No meeting this past Friday but there will be a meeting this Friday. More information on the café for The Rivals then.
Masquot
GI took a field trip to see "George and Martha" at ImprovBoston this past Friday. One hour of realistic character improv. There were awesome. "I wish I could have their children."
Trivia
The question for this week asked what year the original Masquot graduated. Amanda Gray had the first and correct answer of 1986. Yay Amanda!
Poster Design
The winning poster design was "Palindrome," by Ben Sandofsky. Susan invoked Jimmy Cook when referencing Ben who won the poster contest the first two years that it existed.
See you all Friday.
