02.27.2004 Meeting Minutes

Hilary was running and setting up the comedy festival so she could not be at the meeting. The wonderful and amazing Sasha ran the meeting.

MW Rep
MWRep will have a voting meeting D term so be on the lookout. More than likely on the 21st of March. Email mwrep@gweep.net if you would like to be added to the MW Rep mailing list.

New Voices
There are a plethora of New Voices exec meeting tonight. 8 pm tonight all directors must be at the required directors meeting meeting. Directors are welcome to come to the 7 pm production meeting, but are not required to attend. Two plays (A Viking Walks By and We've Got Soul) are still in negociation for directors, so if you're interested in directing one of those plays, put in your bid with the playwright.

SCP
Student Comedy Productions put on an AMAZING comedy festival this past weekend. There were wonderful and awesome performances by over 13 different groups.

Alpha Psi
On March 12th, nominations for induction into Alpha Psi will officially be open. Details shall be forthcoming. Anyone can nominate anyone, you don't have to be in alpha psi to nominate someone.

02.20.2004 Meeting Minutes

In Meeting Performance
Sasha, Eric Mill and Eric Pope performed a splendid rendition of Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives. Simply fabulous.

MW Rep
There will be an upcoming MW Rep selection meeting, sometime... in the future.

The Rivals
The Rivals had a great run. Josie sends out her love and thanks to all involved.

SCP
GI and Empty Set had a double header show on Friday starting at 7. Hilarity ensued. This upcoming weekend will be the Evil Pac-Man Jesus Fish Comedy Festival. Check out comedy.wpi.edu fore more information. There will be over 13 groups from across the east coast here so come out and see the free funny. The event starts at 6 pm in Alden Hall on Friday.

New Voices 22
The New Voices directors meeting went well. If you're interested in possibly directing a play, make sure to contact the playwright and dramaturg ASAP to let them know you're interested. Copies of the plays are on the table in the H&A office. Be sure to go read them BEFORE the office closes at 5. Also tidy up after yourself after you're done, scripts back in the folder nice and neat the way you found them. There will be design and executive meeting tonight (Monday), check your email for information.
Auditions for New Voices are set for March 15, 16 and 17th. So get your monologues ready and start looking forward to it.

Special Elections
The special election for treasurer was a success! Mary Servatius is our new treasurer. Huzzah!

Trivia
I failed at trivia by not having enough prizes. *slaps hand* But the people of awesomeness (in the order in which they won) are Sarah Linderme, Amanda Gray, Tara Ellsworth and Hillary Hayes. Wow, go girls and trivia. For those that did not receive prizes at the meeting, I'll have super awesome prizes for you at the next meeting. And I'll do a little dance for you.

Others

  • Interstate 8 and Simple Harmonic Motion had a performance at 6:30 in Newell Hall Friday night.
  • Jake is desperately looking for two roommates. Must be not allergic to cats. But the roommates are desperately needed, so if you know of anyone...
  • Hilary, Rich Richter and Heather Burkhart performed in Shakespeare readings for the music associations Duke Ellington concert this past week.
  • Dean's movie legwork won for "Best Short Film" in a film festival in Michigan. It also placed 6th overall competing with feature length films.

The Rivals
Masque's C term show "The Rivals" had a tremendous run this past weekend after many long rehearsals. It was all worth it.

02.06.2004 Meeting Minutes

SCP
Guerilla Improv had a show Friday night at 8. It was an awesome show directed by Jamie. Next show will be the Friday after this one (the 20th) directed by Craig.
The comedy festival will be the 27th - 29th. WPI's homegrown comedy groups will be there as well as 13 other comedy groups from 'the greater eastern coast.'

Duke Ellington / Shakespeare
The Duke Ellington concert has been tentatively rescheduled to Wednesday February 18th.

MWRep
MW Rep wants to thank everyone who came to see their show and thank you for auditioning.

The Rivals
The Rivals is having their show this weekend; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 pm. Tickets will be 3 dollars at the door.

New Voices 22
New Voices plays will be announced Friday at a special Masque meeting to be held in Alden Hall. Email nv22@wpi.edu if you're interested in directing, acting, stage managing, FSM-ing; etc. Names will be collected; lists will be made; information will be distributed. Paul STILL needs designers so if you're interested in that email him.

A: Secretary.
The first person to correctly respond was Caitlin. She received a schnazzy Dalmatian print fabric car seat cover.

B Term
The B term show for next year will be *drum roll* Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman." She's currently interviewing producers so if you're interested in producing, email Susan (svick@wpi.edu).

01.30.2004 Meeting Minutes

MQRep
MW Rep had an awesome run of their shows, "It's Tough to Be Somebody" and "The Last Touchy-Feely Drama on the American Stage" this past weekend.

The Rivals
The Rivals is just less than two weeks away. There will be a production meeting this Monday (today), location and time TBD.

New Voices 22
New Voices play and set design submissions were due Friday at 5 pm. If you're interested in a position as a stage manager for a NV show or as a Festival Stage Manager email, Paul (pmessier@wpi.edu) to be placed on a list of interested persons. Also email Paul if you're interested in being a designer (lighting, sound, or ME), or part of the stage crew. If you are away on IQP right now you can *still* be a part of New Voices. Basically if you're interested in doing ANYTHING for New Voices, your lifeline is Paul.

SCP
Kilroy's C term show is shaping up really well. Look for them, GI and Empty Set at the comedy festival at the end of February.

Elections
Nominations are open for Masque officer positions. Email masque@wpi.edu if you're interested in nominating yourself or someone else. Visit the masque site (http://users.wpi.edu/~masque/nominations.html) if you'd like to see who has been nominated for what. Elections will be THIS FRIDAY the 6th) so make sure to come to vote. Also the announcement of the B term show for next year will be then.

Duke Ellington/Shakespeare
If you're interested in reciting Shakespeare next Friday to help out the Music Association as part of their Duke Ellington concert, contact Hilary (hhayes@wpi.edu).

Alpha Psi Omega had a meeting after the Masque meeting due to the popular return of Sarah Linderme.

Trivia
The trivia for this past week asked where Urinetown was discovered. Jamie Stern-Gottfried won by being the first one to correctly answer. Urinetown was discovered at the New York Fringe Festival. And Paul got a bonus prize for giving me some interesting information. The writers are creating both a sequel and a prequel to the show. Also two of the performances had to be cancelled due to "water problems."

01.23.2004 Meeting Minutes

MWRep
Their show is next weekend; Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Riley Commons. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 general admission. The two one acts plays are "It's Tough to be Somebody" and "The Last Touchy Feely Drama on the American Stage."

The Rivals
Their show is going up February 12-14th. If you would like to usher contact Chris Dupree (cdupree@wpi.edu). Everything is going well so far.

New Voices 22
A production manager is still needed. Also there are design positions to be filled. Email Paul (pmessier@wpi.edu) if you're interested.
The submission deadline for plays and scenic designs for New Voices 22 is this Friday, January 30th 2004 at 5 pm. Drop them off in SL 20 in a plain envelope in a box. It's not to the level of secrecy of the witness relocation program, but it's close. You can also drop them in Penny Rock's office in SL 16. This Friday from 4 pm on, Ian Broderick will be at the Humanities and Arts table to collect submissions. If you're dropping off submissions earlier in the afternoon, drop them off to Susan, Penny, Margaret or Jill.
If you are going to be doing your sufficiency in a tech related aspect for New Voices contact Paul (pmessier@wpi.edu) to see what's available. Then talk to either Susan or Dean.

Student Comedy Productions
Guerilla Improv will be doing a multitude of shows in the near future. Yay! This Friday at 7:30 GI will be performing before KRSOne in Alden. GI will also be doing shows every Friday in February (except the Friday of The Rivals). Then for the month of March GI will be doing shows every Wednesday at ImprovBoston.
The new sketch comedy group has a name. It is *drum roll* Empty Set. Their first show will be February 20th.
Kilroy had their voting meeting to decide what sketches are going to be in their show. It is going to be an awesome show and will premiere at the comedy festival. The festival is now titled "Pac Man Jesus Fish Comedy Festival."

Nominations
All positions will be filled at the start of this D term except for president which will be done at the time of New Voices. Nominations will be open for two weeks and then voted on. Send all nominations into masque@wpi.edu. If you are nominated for a position then I will send out an email to you asking if you accept or decline, you must respond as to whether you accept or decline each position. The positions are (in no particular order) President, Vice President Master Carpenter, VP Master Electrician, VP Props, VP Publicity, Secretary, Treasurer, Masquot and Webmaster.
You can nominate as many people as you like for as many positions as you like, including yourself.

Masquot
GI took a field trip to see "George and Martha" at ImprovBoston this past Friday. One hour of realistic character improv. There were awesome. "I wish I could have their children."

Trivia
The question for this week asked what year the original Masquot graduated. Amanda Gray had the first and correct answer of 1986. Yay Amanda!

Poster Design
The winning poster design was "Palindrome," by Ben Sandofsky. Susan invoked Jimmy Cook when referencing Ben who won the poster contest the first two years that it existed.

Guerilla Improv - GI will be having a show with ImprovBoston at ImprovBoston on February 1st. GI will also be performing at the Comedy Festival at the end of this term. January 23rd GI will be taking a field trip to go see "George and Martha" at IB, email Ben (tentacle@wpi.edu) if you're interested in going.
Kilroy - The C term show is entitled "Kilroy Sketch Comedy: Now with Sketch Comedy." Look for them at the Comedy Festival February 27th-29th along with 16 other groups of a college and professional level. The Festival will be held in Alden Hall.

This week's question asked "what two actors recently returned to their original, Tony award winning roles on Broadway?" The answer is Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane of The Producers. The winner was Ryan Seney, congrats. He won a Tweety air freshener and a Pokemon watch.

You need to see Paul by Tuesday if you're interested in ISP credit. If you did not turn in your hours sheet from a previous night and you got an "SP"(not to be confused with Sarah Pavis) on your transcript, talk to Paul and you can still work it out.
