Humanities

Humanities is taught by Ms. Small. Humanities class is a cross between a conventional history class and English class. In humanities, we have read Egyptian love poems, works by Ray Bradbury, portions of the Iliad, satire, and writing on racial bias.

In humanities, we write 2 essays per term. The second essay we have written required us to analyze ancient Egyptian love poems written by villagers of Deir El-Medina, a town known for its tomb builders. Here it is if you want to read it.

One of my favorite units of the year is the satire unit. In this unit, we learned about writing techniques and how to analyze satirical works. For the essay, we were required to write a partner essay about John Swift’s “A Modest Proposal”. My partner Arav and I wrote this essay here.
