Hey everyone, my name is Lilian Amer, and this website exists to show you all a little bit about myself!
I’m a junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Maths and Science at WPI. I’m originally Turkish Iraqi, but I was born and raised in Oman. From there, I moved to Boston, then to Brookline, and later to Wayland, and finally to Holden, Massachusetts. I have two brothers, one who’s in med school and the other who’s in 7th grade. My mom’s a dentist, and my dad’s an orthopaedic doctor.
In my freetime, I love to paint, draw, make ceramics, write poetry, bake, read, and ice skate. In case you couldn't tell, I also LOVE fashion! One of my favorite hobbies is watching movies, and I just finished a 2000s chick flick movie marathon with my friends! Some of my favourite movies are Ten Things I Hate About You (1999), Brick (2005), Heathers (1988), and Dead Poets Society (1989). My favourite books are The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, home is not a country by Safia Elhillo, and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.
I also love to write, and I participated in Brookline High School's Story Hour program in 2023! Additionally, I ran the Red Cross Club in Wayland High School in which we participated as members of the Youth Action Campaign in 2024, and I also volunteered at Language Virtual as the Curriculum Coordinator. During the summer of 2024, I spent a lot of time in dental offices as I gained valuable insight into the field of dentistry by shadowing dentists of all specialities.
