In math class, taught by Mr. Barys, we are using Mathematica software, a powerful educational and computational tool. In class, we have learned about linear curves of best fit and are currently learning about functions. In November, we participated in a 36-hour mathematical modeling competition, the HiMCM .
One POW (problem of the week) that we did recently involved finding the least number of comparisons between bags of gold. I spent a lot of time making graphics for this POW.This lab was one we completed earlier in the year to help us become familiar with basic commands in Mathematica.
Mathematica 7 was recently released! This newest version of Mathematica has great new features such as: new graphing abilities, more graphic abilities, current and historical weather data, chemical data, genome and protein data, and many more new uses. It also has a new Speak command!
