Hi,
Its time that I updated that old WPI web-site message that says "I will return", after all, I’ve been back for over 2 ½ years!
As many of you are probably aware, I "finally" left the Army’s Watertown Materials Laboratory, in June 1995, after a very exciting and rewarding career which spanned almost 35 years. I have returned to WPI, as the Norton Research Professor, on a half time basis. This appointment allows me to continue pursuing my research interests in ceramics and other advanced materials, and it affords me the freedom to pursue an ever-expanding universe of other interests. What may come as a surprise to some of you, is that while I’m still very involved in ceramics, much of my current research is now involved with metal matrix composites; both processing and mechanical / microstructural characterization. Admittedly, these are metal matrix composites with a lot of ceramic content (typically greater than 50%).

I’m looking forward to hearing from friends, both old and new at:
Bob
PS: I’m still the North American Editor of the Journal of the European Ceramic Society, so please consider our journal for one of your papers. You can send your manuscripts to me, or better yet send them directly to R. J. Brook, Editor, at Oxford (they will move through the system a bit faster).
