The
Northeast Popular Culture Association (NEPCA) is a regional affiliate of the
American Culture Association and the Popular Culture Association. NEPCA is an
association of scholars in New England and New York, organized in 1974 at the
University of Rhode Island. We reorganized and incorporated in Boston in 1992.
The purpose of this professional association is to encourage and assist
research, publication, and teaching on popular culture and culture studies
topics by scholars in the northeast region of the United States. By bringing
together scholars from various disciplines, both academic and non-academic
people, we foster interdisciplinary research and learning. We publish a
newsletter twice per year and we hold an annual conference at which we present
both the PETER C. ROLLINS BOOK AWARD and an annual prize.

The
2010 NEPCA conference will take place October 23, 2010 at Massachusetts
College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a member institution of the Colleges
of the Fenway consortium. MCPHS is located in Boston, in the Longwood Medical
Area, in close proximity to the Museum of Fine Arts and Fenway Park, with
easy access to city businesses and restaurants. Since 1974 NEPCA has invited scholars from
New England and New York to be part of an expanding intellectual community.
Our annual conferences strive to obtain a balance of graduate students,
independent scholars, and full-time faculty members. They are designed to be
nurturing conferences where works in progress share intellectual space with
established scholarship. NEPCA conferences are also affordable for all.
