The Engineering College of Copenhagen (IHK) has asked for our assistance in increasing engineering interest. We have narrowed down the target age group to 12-16 year olds, as Danish students must begin thinking what professional path they will pursue when they choose a high school. We are targeting students in the last two grades of folkeskole (Grades K-9), as well as students in the first two grades of gymnasium (Grades 10-12, general unspecialized high school).

Our preliminary plan is to design several projects based on fundamental principles for physical sciences (math, physics, etc.) and engineering fields (civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, etc.). We intend to offer a few projects for each grade level so that students can choose the fields that interest them the most. It is our goal to present these projects during class, which will require a high degree of cooperation and interaction with school teachers. If you are a Danish school teacher interested in hosting one or more of our projects, please contact us for more information at ihk@wpi.edu.

The Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) is unique to WPI. It is designed to examine the interactions between society and technology, is typically completed in teams, and is equivalent to nine credit hours of course work. WPI has project centers around the world where students can complete this project, including Bangkok, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Venice, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Copenhagen.
