Community Service
During my time here at Mass Academy, I volunteered at a variety of programs and organizations. Some of these include Loaves and Fishes food pantry, First Robotics, and Walkfit. This upcoming summer, I plan to volunteer at Planned Parenthood in Worcester. These helped contribute to my 50 hour goal for Mass Academy.
Loaves and Fishes is a organization that has representation at my church, which made it easy to participate in. They ran things like food drives, walks for hunger and more to help benefit the community around us and the world. I participated in the hunger walk annually and I participated in the food drive once a month.
As a member of the robotics team, I was required to do some community service for the robotics community. I chose to volunteer at a middle school robotics competition as a field resetter. This was a fun event becuase you got to see the middle schoolers participate in robotics while also hanging out with friends on the team. It was definitely a win-win experience.
Planned Parenthood is the nations leading provider of sexual health care. To me, this is an important facet of the healthcare industry and one that is continuously cast aside. I plan to volunteer here and although you need trainings in order to do so, I belive it will be beneficial to my understanding of healthcare and my wellbeing as I will learn a lot more about reproductive health than I knew prior.
