Physics

The science course at Mass Academy is Physics. In physics we create our own experiments (to a degree) and use mathematics to solve for various physics scenarios. Personally, I find this class rather challenging, but I have improved significantly from when I started.

Although I am not the only one who finds this class challenging, I feel that we all have made some improvement. From time to time, we are assigned problems that must be typed up neatly and often consume the entire page and may or may not need to made to fit on only a single page. For example, I worked on a problem that simulated forces in a Car Crash. This was an attempt to apply physics (specifically forces on objects)to real life situations. It also provides one more reason to wear a seatbelt. There was also the infamous Two Week Assignment. When we were still new to the school in September, each of the teachers gave us a large project that was due in two weeks (all on the same day). Although it was stressful, I believe we all completed the assignments on time. The Physics assignment involved two problems that were about average difficulty, but they needed to be typed up neatly.

I attempt to keep very copious notes in Physics Class. Here is an example of one of my notes on the Energy Chapter. Although I don't usually type my notes and it is only required that we have them, I found these notes to be easier to study. Over the cource of the year, the quality of my lab reports, in terms of both the physics involved as well as the overall quality, has greatly improved. One of my better lab reports for this class was the coefficient of friction lab. In this lab we had to find the coefficient of friction between two objects useing physcis equations and a graph of the data. A more recent lab, which I believe is much better in comparison, is the harmonics lab. This lab involved investigating the properties of springs. In my opinion, it was one of the easiest labs to measure data, but our group encountered many problems in the tabulation of the data.
