My teacher for Humanities is Ms. Small. Instead of a typical English/History setup, the topic we cover have to do with how humans think. Some examples are how people deal with race and why we write satires. We often have many readings to go through, and a lot of our classes are group discussions where we say our ideas and build on each other’s thoughts.
The first essay we had to write was about two short stories about the dystopian future. Both are bleak interpretations that involved the control of technology and how humans are devalued. Our essay topic was to compare and contrast the two stories and decide which one was more effective in conveying its message.
One of the units we covered in Humanities was satire. Satire is a form of writing that points out flaws in a system in a comedic way. One of the assignments was a creative writing assignment of where we worked in pairs to create a satire that points out a flaw in a system that we chose. I paired up with Harsh and we decided to satirize Apple for their overpriced products, and we presented it in the form of an advertisement.
