About Me
Ethan Zhou
My name is Ethan Phoenix Zhou, and I am a Junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI. I’m 15 years old and live in Harvard, Massachusetts, in a family of four. My parents are immigrants from China, and I also have a sister. Before attending Mass Academy, I was a student at the Bromfield School, where I spent most of my early life. Transitioning to a new school was initially strange, but Mass Academy was very accommodating, helping me adjust within the first few weeks."
I really enjoy learning about new things, especially in the fields of business and computer science. When it comes to school, I don't have a specific favorite subject; I find pleasure in exploring a variety of topics. However, if I had to choose one, physics would be my current favorite. There's no particular reason behind this preference; I simply enjoy solving physics problems.
In my free time, I enjoy making art, playing sports, and playing musical instruments. I've experimented with various sports, including golf, baseball, and basketball. However, last summer, I developed new interests in combat sports, such as boxing, and in extreme sports like surfing. You might wonder how I took up surfing on the East Coast — I'm wondering the same thing! But it's one of the most enjoyable activities I've ever done. I started playing musical instruments at a young age, beginning with the piano at age 5. After a few years of piano, I switched to the clarinet, which I now play in various ensembles, orchestras, and bands. The clarinet has been a faithful companion for the past seven years, and I have no plans to stop playing it anytime soon.
