Introduction

Hello! Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Elena Cappy and I am enrolled in Mass Academy’s class of 2018. I previously went to AMSA, where I discovered my love for engineering, science, and real world applications of my knowledge. Feel free to scroll down for more personal information about me, or visit my photo gallery and school portfolio.

Background & Random Facts

I was born in Syracuse, NY and my family moved to Massachusetts when I turned one. I live with my parents and my brother, who is five years older than me. I previously went to AMSA, which is my sending school. I was happy there, but I applied to Mass Academy so that I could be around more people who love to learn. I really like traveling. My grandparents and cousins on my mom’s side live in Florida, so we fly down almost every summer. My dad’s family mostly lives in a rural town in Vermont, which is where we spend most of our holidays. I got my black belt in karate when I was twelve, and then started running for track and cross country. I haven’t had time to keep it up, but I would if I could. My favorite color is burgandy. If I had to pick two tv series to watch exclusively for the rest of my life, I would pick The Walking Dead and Grey’s Anatomy.

Hobbies

I have been playing the violin since I was in the sixth grade, but I still don't think that I am that good at it. I play folk music, so technically I’m playing the fiddle, but no one really understands the difference. Here is the link to my teacher's website, if you're interested in taking lessons. I have recently acquired an interest in photography. Feel free to look at some of my work in the Gallery.

Community Service

For junior year at Mass Academy, every student is required to complete 50 hours of community service. For my community service, I decided to volunteer at a nursing home in Marlborough. At the nursing home, I get to help with activities like bingo and nail painting. I also get to help transfer the residents and interact with them. This community service project has been really rewarding, and I have definitely made some friends along the way.
