Digital Shakespeares at WPI

Where Students Experience, Expand, and Build the Bard

The Italian subject matter works metaphorically, too.

Like Shakespeare, whose fresh language and ideas brought his audience into the unfamiliar, exotic world of Italy, students in this seminar use their own innovations to illuminate Shakespeare’s stories and to make them relevant to our modern lives.

This is the site for Building Digital Shakespeares, an Inquiry Seminar at WPI. The site showcases unique student projects that use technology to develop new approaches to Shakespeare and his work.

The course theme is Shakespeare in Italy.

Why Italy? Because Shakespeare’s Italian plays are a treasure trove of history, culture, literature, and Shakespeare’s own imaginative powers.
