Welcome!

- Hey there! My name is Evan Cheng, and I am a junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I am a Worcester native and I previously attended Doherty Memorial High School. Explore my website to learn more about the Mass Academy curriculum and me!

Tennis

- Tennis: I have been playing this for 9 years. It all started on one faithful day at the single tennis court at Indian Lake Park with my dad. To say the least about my first experience with the sport, I was learning how to run before I could walk; I may have or may not have hit a few cars… Anyhow, I have improved in the sport and as the skills grew, my passion for it followed. I followed this passion into high school, where I played varsity 1st doubles Tennis at Doherty Memorial High School in my freshmen and sophomore years. As of now, I still want to play competitively; however, I am evaluating the feasibility of it. My all-time favorite tennis player is hands-down, Roger Federer! As for current players, it's hard not to love Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz.

- Whenever I can, I help my parents at our family restaurant, Yume Dumplings. Here, I can be found at the register, taking orders, making drinks, packaging, and serving customers. My sister is the self-promoted “manager”, and she is very advocative about having a productive environment, even though she’s the one too busy talking. My father is the head chef of the kitchen, while my mother has the dual role of being a chef and the head of the front, although she mainly works in the latter. Hanging out with my sister

- One of the most contrasting but still-fulfilling activities that I do in my life is hanging out with my sister, Lydia. Despite all the little irritating and infuriating antics of a younger sibling, I love her, so spending a lot of time with her is something I try to do. This is because I am a very family-oriented person so finding the balance between the whole “love-hate” sibling relationship isn’t so hard as some say. I always try to find time to do something with her, whether that be going to the park, playing catch, or even (to my dismay) playing with her dolls or toy figures. As the duty of an older brother (especially one like mine, where Lydia and I share an age difference of 10-years, 8-months, and 7 days), I strive to be a good role model for her. I like to think that this goal works both ways; as she inspires me, I inspire her.

Football

Me and my Super Bowl Medal from the Flex Championship

- I’m a big fan of watching the NFL. I find Football to be one of the greatest sports in the world! I love watching it and when I do, like most New Englanders do, I passionately follow the New England Patriots. If you ask me for the consensus G.O.A.T., I’ll say Tom Brady with absolutely zero bias. I have previously played Flex Football during the 8th to 9th grade summer season and have won the championship that season; during that time, I played on the line both ways (I started both ways as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman). Recently, I’ve just started doing Fantasy Football, so don’t ask me for any advice as I’ll be the one needing it!

Winter activities

- During the winter season, I am engaging with the abundance of snow and cold climate, whether that be through winter activities, or something as simple as knocking down the ice off the bottom of the car. One of my favorite winter activities is skiing which I was introduced to about 6 years ago by my aunt and I have since attempted to do it at least once every year. My favorite place to ski is at Wachusett Mountain! Another winter activity I love doing is shoveling, believe it or not. Despite the initial “Why am I doing this? I hate this!”, I somehow find the task fulfilling and soothing; perhaps, I’m just inherently loving the winter atmosphere. Winter nature also brings the opportunity for me to “pummel” snow at my sister and or dad, so that’s another reason. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of these activities.
