Humanities

In humanities, we read about history, focusing on the art, literature and culture of the era we are studying. We also read some of the major literary works of the time periods we learn about. Below are some examples of my work so far this year in Humanities. The first is an example of the key term definitions for chapter 4 of our textbook, Humanities, be Gloria Fiero. At the end of each chapter, we write identifications for the key terms listed at the end of the chapter in order to review what we read about. The second link is an essay I wrote about crime in the Elizabethan era while we were studying Elizabeth's rule in England in the 1500s. The next link is a short summary about Walt Whitman and his involvement in the Civil War. The link below that is an essay that discusses the role of tenement culture in the late 1800s in New York City, as it is portrayed in Maggie a Girl of the Streets by Stephen Crane. The last link also deals with New York tenement culture. It is a reaction to two chapters of Jonathan Riis's novel, How the Other Half Lives.
