Regime Change Begins at Home

Make your voice heard...

"Freedom to differ is not limited to things that do not matter much. That would be a mere shadow of freedom. The test of its substance is the right to differ as to things that touch the heart of the existing order."

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error."

What I've Done, What I Do

I'm a 1979 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA degree in Printmaking, of all things. Did you ever hear of "come up and see my etchings?" Well, that's me! I majored in etching. After graduation, and a number of strange and/or dull jobs, I finally realized that the job market for those of us with degrees in fine art printmaking was "challenging" and went to secretarial school to ensure myself of a regular paycheck. Did you ever see those ads, "If u cn rd ths, u cn gt a gd jb?" Yup, that's me, too. My "jb" is administrative assistant in the Mathematical Sciences Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where I've been working since 1983. My interest in and love for art continues, however, through my work in stained glass and more recently, in pottery courses at the Worcester Center for Crafts.

Take a look at some of my pottery.

A Musical Potpourri

Cool, so very, very cool...

DEB RECOMMENDS: Check out my current favorite, Frank Morey--best seen and heard in a small, dark, smokey barroom...

Send me a note if you know of something else I might like to listen to, based on what you see here.
Spearhead, MC Solaar, Tricky, Cee-Lo Green, Frank Morey, Sugar Blue, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, Koko Taylor, Charlie Musselwhite, Chris Smither, Bill Morrissey, Jack Hardy, Laura Love, Bic Runga, John Prine, David Massengill, Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Peter Rowan, David Grisman, Al Stewart, Daniel Lanois, Tom Waits, Morphine, Mephiskapheles, Madness, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds or The Birthday Party, The Blue Hawaiians, Rollins Band, and more, more, more. I can't stop myself. It's a sickness. It's an obsession.

Let's see, what else...

I also like to read; some of my favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Anne Tyler, Alice Hoffman, Richard Russo, Ann Beattie, and Margaret Atwood, I recently finished Empire Falls by Richard Russo,
and have often been known to get lost reading the dictionary or Roget's Thesaurus. No Danielle Steele, please!

Currently reading: The Blind Assassin, by Margaret Atwood.

Cooking is fun! Watch this space for some of my favorite recipes.
