Humanities

Humanities is both a history class and an english class, only better. In Mr, Ludt's class we have read many interesting texts from various time periods. Mostly in class we have discussions about our readings. The first essay we wrote this year was in response to the Illiad, the sixth book in particular. Our assignment was to find and elaborate on examples of humanism in the text. Later on this year we wrote an essay about three medieval epics, finding an interlocking theme. My theme was chivalry. Later in the winter we read King Richard III in less than a week. After quickly finishing the play we all picked a topic to discuss, I wrote my essay on soliloquies. We've also read to articles from the Spectator newspaper written by Joseph Addison. One article was about disecting a woman's heart and the other a man's brain. Then we wrote an essay about Addison's writing style and comparisons of the two articles. Another interesting topic we covered this year in humanities was the Renaissance period. Each member of the class was responsible for researching one particular topic, mine was medicine.
