Computer Science

In computer sciece we learn all about computers and computer programming. We use scheme to do most of our programming. At the beginning of the year we leaned about all the different components of a computer. Then we were given an imaginary budget to build our own computer. We displaced the components of our theoretical computer in a powerpoint. My partner and I built an all pink computer. I really liked my imaginary computer and was really happy with the way it came out. One of the most important things we learned how to do in computer science was use html to create a website . This was a difficult task, but in the end had a great result. Computer science has been a great learning experience for me, and made me reflect on my abilities from the begining of the year. I had a great time working with scheme this year, but of course there was my favorite lab and least favorite. Out of all the labs there was one I was most proud of and another that I still don't understand. But overall I learned so much this year. The lab I liked the most was lab 7, the list of structures lab, or Dr. Scheme's Megastore. To me this lab was really fun because my partner Hailey and I created a Starbucks store, and that was realy fun. We had to create a store with a list of items that it sold, we had a bunch of different coffees, then all the functions were about taking structures out of a the lists, checking to see how many were in the list, and things that stores would do. I thought this was really fun because it was something I could relate to in real life. The lab that I just really did not like at all was lab 8. It was all about natural numbers and iterations. To me it was really boring, it was more math based than most of the labs we do, which are usually with images and fun things like that. The lab basically worked with natural numbers so it was kind of dry. Lab 9, the fractal lab, is the lab I am most proud of. I never thought I would be able to make a fractal, but inthe lab we made a two different fractals, one that we made up on our own. I fractal is a image that repeats the same pattern inside itself. Fractals are really cool, and I was proud of the fractal my partner and I created. On the other side of the spectrum, I never really understod lab 4, the boolean and conditional lab. Trying to get my head around the conditionals never really fully happened for me. In this lab we had to write a lot of functions that had many different pieces to them and had to determine when various things would occur or not.
