About Me!

Hello! My name is Dany Alkurdi, and welcome to my website! First, learn a little about me.

Mass Academy

I'm a student at the Mass Academy of Math and Science at WPI. As a junior at MAMS, I am taking Humanities, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, STEM, STW, and French. At my sending school, South High Community School, I was mainly enrolled in honors classes and a few AP classes such as AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and APHG. My favorite classes are the sciences because of the vast amounts of knowledge that can be learned. As the son of Syrian immigrants, I speak Arabic and carry with me the Syrian culture. But enough about school, here is some more information about me as a person and about my hobbies and activities.

Indoor Track Districts 2013

There are plenty of sports that I take part in. During the fall season, I usually run long-distance with South High's cross country team. I also run and train with their indoor track team in which I compete in the 600m, 1000m, 1 mile, and 2 mile races. I am proud to also be a part of the South High tennis team, as we made it to the semi-finals this year! Running and playing tennis are year-round activities for me, but I also have other hobbies. I have spent almost 8 years of my life knowing how to ski and snowboard, and I can play a few instruments, including the piano, clarinet, flute, and violin. I like to draw and read, and I've had my fair share of experience with video games.

South Tennis Team

For the past few years, I have been a camper and later a volunteer at the non-profit organization Tenacity. The program is concerned with teaching inner-city children, ages 6 to 16, how to play tennis and improving their literary skills. It's great because it keeps kids out of the dangers of the city while also increasing their skills for the future. Also, I get to teach something I love, tennis, to a group that I love to work with, children. I have also had other jobs teaching tennis to children, including at a local tennis club and at after-school activities.
