In STREAM, each student does a research project for the science fair in the spring. For my research project, I investigated the adsorbent properties of feathers so that they could be used to remove oil from water after a spill. I then designed, constructed, and tested a device utilizing ostrich feathers as a sorbent for that purpose. With my project, I won Fourth Award at the Worcester Regonal Science and Engineering Fair and an Honorable Mention at the Massachusetts State Science Fair.
This is the final paper for my STREAM project. It is approximately twenty pages long and comprises many sections, including an abstract, a literature review, a methodology, an analysis, and a concludion.
Partway through the year, we began working on our STREAM B projects. These projects had to be some kind of assitive technology for an actual client. My group made a device to aid a woman who has multiple sclerosis zipper her clothes. Check out our group's website!
