Hi, my name is Christian DiMare, and I am a student at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI. There are four people in my immediate family; Adrianna (my sister), Stephen (my father), Denise (my mother), and I live in Uxbridge, MA. Although we live in Uxbridge, home of the Spartans, I will forever be tied to Northbridge, home of the Rams.
The Mass Academy is an amazing educational program for accelerated students in the studies of mathematics and science, but it is not where I come from. In fact, everyone has a different story leading up to this, our junior year at a new school. I went to public school for the majority of my life at Northbridge. It wasn't until the eighth grade that I even considered attending school elsewhere. I had been in an accelerated program at Northbridge; I had taken Algebra I in the seventh grade and Algebra II in eighth grade, and the Northbridge High School was not ready to accommodate a small group of eighteen students in higher classes. At that point I decided to attend Mount Saint Charles, in Rhode Island.
Mount Saint Charles is a Catholic high school founded on the principles of faith and service through the application of talents. I found a more challenging academic experience at Mount as well as numerous opportunities to grow and become even more accelerated; over the summer before my freshman year I was allowed to self-study geometry and place into Pre-Calculus/ Trig. As a sophomore I took AP Calculus and got a 5 on the both the AB and BC sections of the exam in May.
I enjoy sports and exercise in general, particularly soccer and volleyball. I used to play for multiple soccer teams: my school teams in the fall and Liverpool FSC in the spring for club soccer. My dad coaches my club soccer team, and we, as a team, are a family. Some of my best friends are on that team. My Liverpool team is a division two MAPLE team, but we have been working our way to division one since two years ago, so we are fairly successful.
If it wasn't for an unfortunate occurrence, I would have played varsity soccer as a sophomore. I broke my leg on the fifth of May in 2009, and I was still recovering in physical therapy, so I could barely run my sophomore season. I did have a brief varsity playing experience my freshman year when I was called up as a swing player from JV for the playoffs. The funny thing is that the team was eliminated before the first round because of tiebreakers.
I've only played a half a season of competitive volleyball, but it became on of my favorite sports in that short time. I played power, or left-side hitter, for half the season, but transitioned to off-hand by the end of the season. I was fairly good with the basics of the sport, but I wasn't a very good hitter.
I am also a musician. I have taken three years of piano lessons, but don't take that as any indication of my skill level. I compose my own music, and my writing style is very modern; however, enjoy playing classical music. I started my studies at the Gig Stop, which is no longer in business, and then I took lessons through the Royal Academy of Music in Shrewsbury. I quit lessons because I was attending private school, and now I continue to study on my own.

Along with piano I can sort of play guitar. I can read tabs and I know a few chords, but I'm nowhere near being close to an expert. I have enjoyed singing for all of my life, and I won the Mount Saint Charles Talent Show '10 as best in show.
