Welcome to CaiDebenhamatMassAcademy.com. Here you may read about my life, my electives, and my projects.

This year I am a junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI. For those who do not know of it, Mass Academy is the only math-sci magnet school in Massachusetts. Being a magnet school, it is somewhere between public and private. Tuition is free of charge, but the school only accepts 50 new students per year. Acceptance is based on mind set and personality. Those hoping to apply should really be passionate about learning. What really stands out about the school is that in the senior year, all Mass Academy students take courses at WPI. During junior year, the only other year of attendance, students take courses on the Mass Academy campus. While the classes are tough, they are also fun and engaging. The school has a very progressive approach to learning and goes beyond simple chew and spit and even the A-F grading system. There is a final grade at the end of the year, but students receive personal narratives throughout the year from each teacher. Those attending Mass Academy are usually A and B+ students at or beyond the honors level; thus, the typical grading system is inadequate for rating performance. Another of the foci of the school is engineering. The second major project of junior year requires students to work together to develop a device that assists a person in need. Past projects have helped handicapped elementary students in the classroom and rheumatism struck elders at home. Mass Academy inspires the intelligent to go out and make a difference in the modern world.
