My Math PAGE!

Math with Mr. Barys is a really interesting and new way of learning for me. In Mr. Barys' class we learn the mathematical method to math and he really tests our mind power with a Problem of the Week (POW) each week. Along with thinking really hard about difficult questions, such as finding the volume of an irregular tetrahedron, we also use advanced mathematical software like Mathematica. This is frustrating, especially on a Mac, but it is definately a learning experience. Math is a very informative and interesting class, and I look forward to an interesting year ahead.

1. Gas StationThis was a very interesting problem-solving activity where we had to find an equation that would allow us to determine how far out of your way you can go to get gas and still benefit from the detour. This was challenging due to the many different assumptions we had to make, but I found it to be a very interesting problem.

2. POW #3 Every few weeks we get a Problem of the Week (POW) where we are given a week to solve a problem. This problem is sometimes relatively simple, and other times can be very challenging. In this POW we were to convert a group of letters such as MUIU into MU by only using a given set of rules.

3. POFThis problem was quite challenging, yet fun. It was a problem of the fortnight (POF) because it was very difficult. The problem was to find exactly how many tetrahedra and octahedra in an n by n tetrahedron have how many sides facing outwards.

4. HighDive Scary and yet amazing final POW

5. POW #18 An interesting POW

I love Macs
