About BMES National

BMES is a national professional society that was started on February 1, 1968 in Illinois. There are now more than 2500 members from over 100 student chapters at colleges and universities in the United States. The purpose of BMES is "To promote and enhance biomedical engineering knowledge worldwide and its utilization for the health and well-being of humankind."

By becoming a member of the national BMES organization, you can:

  • Receive the Bulletin, the BMES newsletter
  • Receive access to journal articles from the Annals of Biomedical Engineering and the latest information and research in the profession.
  • Receive access to job listings and career advice
  • Receive discounts on attending the annual meeting where you can participate in resume workshops and career development sessions
