Welcome!

Hi, I’m Adam Yanco, a current junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI.

A Trail Me & Dave

I've always loved hiking and the outdoors. The most challenging peak I’ve summited so far is Mt. Moosilauke (4,802 ft) last July. Some other notable hikes are little haystack mountain (4,760 ft), Mt. Tom (4,051 ft), Mount Field (4,340 ft), Mount Willey (4,285 ft), and Mount Avalon (3,442 ft). I often hike with my dad and people from a local German club where I also volunteer.

At my sending school, Worcester Academy, I was a member of the crew team, where I competed in regattas across New England. As a team sport, crew built camaraderie and taught us the importance of both teamwork and personal growth.

During my freshman and sophomore years, I competed in FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge). Our team, 21913, earned second place at the Massachusetts WPI qualifier! I was one of three high schoolers that mentored the team of predominantly middle schoolers. Although we were undefeated coming into the finals, because of alliance advancement rules, we weren't one of the teams selected to move on to the next level of competition.

I’ve been competing in math competitions for a majority of my life. I’ve competed in WoCoMaL, the Worcester County Math League, since 7th grade, Math Kangaroo since 2nd grade, and I've done a handful of other smaller competitions in my free time. I earned first place at the 2024 WPI Invitational Mathematics Meet
