Alpha Chi Rho is a national, men’s, collegiate fraternity whose purpose is to enhance the lifelong intellectual, moral, and social development of our members through the guidance of our Landmarks. We strive for social responsibility and are involved with community service projects.
The Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation, or AXPEF, was established in 1950. The mission of the Educational Foundation, Inc. is to provide the Fraternity of Alpha Chi Rho, its members, chapters, and other students with the financial and organizational support necessary to attain their educational goals.
Academics has always been a concern of all members of Alpha Chi Rho. College is a challenging and a transitional environment; fraternity life helps smooth this transition from high school to college. Each Chapter has a Scholarship Advisor, who is a member of that institution’s staff. This person monitors all of the academics of the men in the Chapter during the postulant period of membership, young men are encouraged to attend Chapter sponsored academic study sessions. Greek men have a higher graduation rate than non-Greek men. Academics is one of the founding principles of AXP and it will help to strengthen your son. We also have a partnership with Franklin Covey in which we provide academic planners to all postulants.
LSI – The Leadership and Scholarship Institute is an annual educational workshop where brothers participate in educational programming such as experiential learning, operational workshops, leadership development and career services.
Conclaves – These one or two day workshops cover a variety of issues including: resume building, chapter management, moral and ethical development, leadership development, social development and risk management.
Community Service – Alpha Chi Rho has its own community service program, Challenge the World. This helps Brothers get involved with the American Cancer Society, Autism Society of America, Feed the Children and Habitat for Humanity.
Alcohol – We take alcohol very seriously. We are joined with 68 men’s and women’s fraternities and sororities to educate and enforce risk management policies. We expect our Chapters to hold any social function in accordance with all city, state, federal and university regulations . No alcohol may be purchased with Chapter funds. No Chapter or member may purchase, serve or sell alcohol to a person under the legal drinking age. Alpha Chi Rho does not tolerate violations to this policy and it promotes responsible social programming of its members.
Hazing – Hazing is not tolerated by any Chapter or member of Alpha Chi Rho. Hazing is any physical or mental situation that creates embarrassment, harassment, or harm in any way to another Postulant or Brother. Hazing is a senseless act that can close a Chapter. We stress scholarship and problem-solving in our Postulant program. We do not feel hazing is a worthwhile practice.
As a parent, there is a lot you can do for your son. We understand that this is a time of change for you and your family, but it is also a change for your son. As a parent, inform your son that you hold the same standards and expect him to treat theses standards with the maturity they deserve. Talk to your son about tough issues like alcohol, sex, peer pressure and drugs. Ask your son about his Chapter and his new Brothers. If Risk Management concerns you, please feel free to contact the Alpha Chi Rho National Staff.

Graduate Life
The fraternal experience does not end at graduation, but merely begins. There are networking abilities with a substantial graduate database.
When your son joins the Fraternity, he must pay a one-time Initiation Fee to the National office. This fee covers most of the programs and services that have already have been mentioned. He also gets a life-long subscription to the Fraternity’s magazine, The Garnet & White. We have credit card payment plans available to cover this fee.
Each Chapter has their own annual dues which varies from Chapter to Chapter. This money is used throughout the year for paying insurance, educational speakers, and other various items.
Yes he is.
A significant portion of your son's local membership dues is used to purchase
General Liability Insurance for his local Chapter. Alpha Chi Rho provides a National General Liability Insurance Program in which local Chapters, such as your son's, can purchase protection for their local chapter and the various alumni groups. The insurance protects the local Chapter and affiliated organizations. In the event a person is injured or someone's property is damaged due to the business of the local Chapter, the insurance company will pay the legal obligations of the local Chapter and/or affiliated organizations up to a specified limit. Members do not automatically qualify as an insured under the local Chapter's General
Liability policy. They must be acting within the capacity of their membership with their local Chapter at the time of their alleged negligence. Even while acting in the capacity of membership, a member would not qualify as an insured when involved in activities such as hazing, sexual abuse and assault and battery. Most homeowner's insurance policies will consider your
son an insured under the policy while living away from home at college and will provide liability coverage to him.
