In A term, we looked at many interesting mathematical problems. One such problem was the problem assigned to us on the first day of school which asked us to prove a property of the parity of a certain number pyramid. I was able to present three solutions to this problem.
A major event in math class at Mass Academy is the High School Mathematical Competition in Modeling, or HiMCM. In groups of four, students work together to create models or solutions to a certain problem. My team consisted of myself, Karthik Seetharamen, Justin Wang, and Kazuya Erdos. We created a model that recommended high school students summer jobs based on their qualifications and preferences. For each possible job in our listing, the model used a formula to assign a number based on the student's and job's preferences, and returned to the user the top jobs for them.
