My Scientific and Technical Writing (STW) class is taught by Dr. Sumner. Dr. Sumner knows a lot about writing scientific articles, and she has published many herself. In this class, she imparts her immense knowlege of grammar and word choice on us. We spend a lot of time editing articles and writing essays in a scientific manner. This class will culminate in our writing of our research paper for our science fair project. I feel that my writing has really become a lot clearer since starting this class.
We do some very interesting writing in this class. My favorite assignments were the Occam's Razor essay about a pseudoscience, and the bagel methodology.
More recently, we have been doing different assignments. We wrote a
letter
to the Nobel Prize Committee regarding the chemist Percy Julian. I also
wrote
an essay about sickle cell disease
for the DuPont essay writing competition. My last piece of work is
fall nature writing , which describes
my observations of nature. This class has taught me how to express my ideas
very logically. I think I have learned a great deal in this class.
