Computer science is taught by Ms Lang. This website is brought to you by computer science class. We've learned to do a lot with only a few basic tools in scheme. The class has focused on building programs through functions instead of processes. Things have gotten fairly easy and Victor and I are currently working on our final project. I have learned to organize my programs and to test them when things go wrong. I have worked through my contempt for scheme, and have received fairly decent grades on the last few labs. I think that with the skills I honed this year, I should be ready for my class in JAVA (a real language) next year.
This is one of the biggest assignments we have done this year. A scheme labThis is an example of a scheme assigment. yup. We did good on it, all the time.
A creative piece done on the computer this yearThis is a compilation of Menard quotes, it can also be found on the french section of this website. This was done in Sony Acid.
The lab I am most proud ofThis is a screen shot of the fractal that I created. A fractal is any image that is created by a set of rules and is therefore self similar. By changing the input and a few lines of code from my Levy curve, I was able to make this pretty cool one. I spent a lot of time on this lab, and nearly gave up, but I finally got it, and that's why I am really proud of this lab.
A lab that I still don't understandMe no comprendo. This was a simple lab on logic gates, but I still don't get exactly how I did what I did. I understand what the gates do and a little bit of how they go together, but I can't get how I was able to throw stuff together and have it be right. I don't mind though, mainly because this is the hardest thing to get out of all we've this year.
My favorite labThe point of the lab was to get familiar with teh world teachpak to be used in the final project. This is a screen shot of the pong game that I created. It randomly assigns the speed and direction of the ball, paddle widths, screen sizes, and ball radius. It's pretty fun, and it's cool when my copy of T.A.N.K.S. isn't around (that's my final project with victor...). I would put it up as an executable, but Scheme isn't that great at doing that... or much else, for that matter...
My least favorite labThis is a screen shot of lab 11. It was about binary search trees. It was another exercise in recursion, at a point where I'd had enough practice with recursion in the form of my fractal lab. There was nothing particularly difficult about it, but a little more thought was required than normal, and it didn't happen very often. The dessert angered me as well, it was a little confusing... I just didn't like working on this lab, it wasn't fun...
