Bid Day?
After the excitement of membership recruitment, comes even more
excitement on Bid Day. After the Preference Party, you signed a small
piece of paper and wrote down which sorority you would like to join as
your #1 choice. You are also encouraged to write the other sorority
as your #2 choice, this is done so everyone will receive an acceptance
bid. By signing this paper, you are accepting an offer to
join a sorority, you are the one deciding which sorority you would like
to join. The next day, Bid Day, is when you are notified as to
which sorority you will be joining. You will receive an
acceptance bid in your campus mailbox or will visited by sorority members
to welcome you to the chapter. It is an honor to be chosen to join a
particular sorority and it is also an honor to the sorority that you had
chosen them to be a part of.
OK, So I Am in a Sorority. Now What?
There is generally an event, usually on Bid Day, where you will receive
your new member badge and taught about some of the beliefs and values of
the organization. You will also attend meetings and receive booklets to
learn about the histories, term explanations, and other facts about the
sorority. No need to fret, it is fun! Not only will you be learning
all about your sorority's past, but you will get to learn all the songs
and do lots of fun stuff like make T-shirts, and have study breaks, and
go to movies and concerts!
First Things First!
Although learning about your sorority important, first comes your
scholastic studies. There are study hours set aside for New Members to
work together or receive help from older sisters on tough courses. There
is also a library which has old text books and notes that may aid in your
mastering of material for almost every course offered at WPI. Remember
that a GPA of 2.0 is required by AGD (and also
one for FSS and AXD)
to be in good standing. AGD Zeta Zeta Chapter
prides itself on having one the highest combined GPA's of student
organizations at WPI.
On a Sentimental Note...
Going through the new member process is important for you to get to know
your sorority and its members. If you ever have any questions or concerns
there are always 60 other sisters there to help and listen.
