Recruitment Counselors

DO look into Greek Life with an open mind.
There are many stereotypes surrounding Fraternities and Sororities, but it is up to you to find out what Greek Life is all about. Don't be influenced by people who have not taken the time to check it out. Go straight to the source!

DON'T rule Greek Life out because your friends aren't Greek.
One of the wonderful aspects of Greek Life is the opportunity to make new friends. Being in a sorority, you will meet many interesting people at WPI and you instantly have a connection with interesting people on other campuses. Most sisters have very close friends who are not Greek, and no Alpha Gam would make you stop being friends with anyone, Greek or non-Greek.

DO meet members from as many Fraternities or Sororities as possible.
During Recruitment, take the time to visit both chapters. Part of Recruitment is finding the group that is perfect for you. Identifying the differences in each chapter will give you confidence that you've chosen the right one.

DON'T feel pressured into joining a particular chapter because your friends or family are members.
Just because a certain chapter was right for your mom, your sister, or your roommate, doesn't mean that is right for you. Fraternity and Sorority membership is for life. You should feel completely comfortable and confident in your decision.

DO ask questions.
Everyone has questions when going into a new experience, so don't be afraid to ask as many as you want. As a prospective New Member, you are entitled to information about the chapter. Think of recruitment as an interview process. You are interviewing the chapter to see which one best meets your expectations.

DON'T pretend to be someone you're not.
During Recruitment, it is most important to always be yourself. This helps both you and the organizations make the correct decision in choosing the chapter that is right for you. Be comfortable. The members will be just as nervous and anxious as you.

DO bring your friends with you to Recruitment.
New places and new people can be less threatening if you have a friend with you. Who knows? That friend may become your Sister and your friendship will become stronger.
