Hi! I’m Ada, a current junior at Mass Academy. Before I started here, I went to school at Dover-Sherborn Regional High School, and a few more schools before that. I’ve actually moved 17 times! At MAMS, I’m part of the math team and an Arduino elective. I’m also co-president of SAGA, our school’s sexuality and gender alliance.
Outside of school, I spend most of my time reading, drawing, or playing instruments. My reading goal this year is only 52 books since I've been busy, but next year I'd like to go for at least 100. You can check out my Goodreads account to see what books I'm planning on reading soon! Drawing is another hobby of mine that I've recently been getting back into. My main focus right now is improving at drawing realistic portraits, but it's been a slow process. Although I'm working to improve on realism, most of the art I do these days is anime-related drawings or clothing design, which I sell online through various platforms. As for instruments, I play violin and guitar, and I've recently been teaching myself piano! Learning piano actually started out as a joke between my friends and I when I said I would learn how to play the piano just to someday be able to play a particular arrangement of a song I like, but I ended up following through with it. It's a bit of a weird goal, and I'm definitely far from reaching it, but it's been fun to aspire to.
I’ve tried out a bunch of different sports during middle and high school, but unfortunately, I’m not able to participate in sports anymore because of a major injury to my hip. My favorites are cross country skiing and running, both of which I was on the varsity teams for at my sending school, but I've also tried quite a few other sports as well! I played soccer through elementary and middle school until I started fencing competitively. Eventually, I switched to rowing and even gave volleyball a try. Although a lot of the sports I enjoy are off the table for me now, it looks like I might be able to start running again soon!
My favorite places to travel are definitely Mount Desert Island (specifically Acadia National Park) in Maine and NYC. Every year, I go on a camping trip to Maine with my brother and my mom. We usually spend a week or two hiking around and exploring Acadia National Park. It's a lot of fun, and the trip is one of my favorite family traditions. I have a lot of family in New York, so we visit as often as we can. I have some travel pictures available on my gallery page!
