Hello, my name is Arthur Rusaikin. I am in 11th grade at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science, and my sending school is Wachusett Regional High School. My main interests are math and programming, which I plan to turn into a career. I am Russian, and I go there once every few years.
I’ve been doing karate for 8 years, at a JIKC school in Worcester. I have a second degree brown belt. Karate is one of my favorite hobbies because it allows me to stay in shape and maintain discipline. Teamwork is also a massive part of karate – working together to improve individually is important.
I love to read, and my favorite genres are fiction and philosophy. My favorite book is The Picture of Dorian Gray – I loved it because it touched on romanticism and aestheticism.
I love to cook in my free time. My favorite dishes to cook are hash-browns, crepes, and deviled eggs. Cooking is fun because it mixes math (proportions, order) with art (experience is necessary, takes practice). It is also relaxing and helps me stay mindful.
I love to work on personal projects - some of my latest include image phashing, neural networks, and E2E encryption. Programming is one of main pastimes, and it helps me develop critical thinking skills. It also helps me learn about computers, which is getting more and more important by the year, as the world becomes digitized.
